I have a production machine on an Alphaserver running Compaq Tru64 unix. I'm trying to export the whole database and import it on a Solaris Sparc box for testing. The Alpha is running Oracle 8.1.6, the Solaris box is running Oracle 8.1.5. After doing an exp full=yes on the Alpha, the Solaris machine didn't like the file. Error message was

Connected to: Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.5.0.0 - Production With the Partitioning and Java options
PL/SQL Release 8.1.5.0.0 - Production

IMP-00010: not a valid export file, header failed verification IMP-00000: Import terminated unsuccessfully

Question is, is it possible to do imp on an 8.1.5 from an export made from an Oracle 8.1.6 system? Or is this an issue with transferring between different OSes?
