Hello,

I've installed Oracle 9i on Mandrake 8.0 (kernel 2.4.5, glibc 2.2.3) box. Unfortunatelly when I tried to create new database I got error ORA-12701. Description on this error says:

ORA-12701 CREATE DATABASE character set is not known Cause: The character set specified in the CREATE DATABASE command does not exist on the system.
Action: Refer to your Oracle operating system-specific documentation for more information about character sets on the system. Use a valid character set in the CREATE DATABASE command.

I tried to use several different character sets (US7ASCII, WE8ISO8859P1-15) and ALWAYS got this error. But on Solaris 8 all character sets are working fine.

How to get know what character sets support by Linux Mandrake 8.0?

Thanks for any assumptions,
Alex. Received on Wed Jun 27 2001 - 14:35:33 CDT
