I had similar linking problems when I was installing 8.1.6 on Solaris 8 using the universal installer.
I got the unix sys guy to install all the unix patches ( but to no avail). I still kept getting linker errors.
So finally i Ignored all the errors during install. I created a started database. Later i created a new instance and a new database to run on the installed ORACLE_HOME. Everything presently seems to be working.
I dont know what heppened there but it didnt seem to effect anything. So try ignoring the errors. ( I know it is not a sound solution , but it sort of worked for me).
