Hi,

check your tnsnames.ora
You should have tweo versions, one in each oracle-home. The database-entries should be in all tnsnames.ora Or set the system variable TNS_ADMIN to e.g. /oracle/product/8.1.7/network/admin

or under windows
/oracle/ora81/network/admin

short said, where your real tnsnames.ora stays.
