When using this statement:



ALTER TABLE sylogin.SERIAL ALTER COLUMN sylogin.USER_MESSAGE1 VARCHAR2
(1000)  DEFAULT ' ' NOT NULL


we use the Oracle Provider and this error is returned:



ORA-01735: invalid ALTER TABLE option
