My client is a fast paced on-line financial information service that collects financial and economic information from the emerging markets and delivers it to investors and business professionals around the world over the Internet. The company sources its information through co-publishing agreements with information providers (newspapers, news bureaus, government agencies, stock exchanges, analysts) in each local market. Users include institutional investors, government agencies, associations, consulting firms, law firms and corporations. They are currently recruiting a self motivated Database Administrator for its Global Operations Center in New York.

Description:
The Database Administrator is a key team member of a 7x24 global support organization providing support for mission critical systems. Qualified candidate will provide lead in maintenance and support for all company databases, including Oracle and MySQL, and a Context (Intermedia) search engine. The DBA will assume technical lead in projects relating to new database products and work with development teams around the globe to improve database design and performance. Manage relationship with Oracle and other vendors. Implement and maintain database tools that will be required for an optimal operations environment.

Qualifications:
&#9679; Four years Computer Science/Engineering degree or equivalent
&#9679; Eight years experience working in the technology field
&#9679; Three years experience directly performing DBA functions,
maintaining and supporting Oracle databases and familiarity with the Context (Intermedia) search engine
&#9679; One year of experience working with Oracle 8i and components
in an NT environment
&#9679; Excellent knowledge of NT and Linux (Unix) a must
&#9679; Proven project management experience
