I find this old chestnut about ORACLE requiring "babysitting" quite funny too. Used to have a 7.3 database on NT. Peoplesoft HR. Had it on-line for 5 years. Once a year we re-organized it, more for the fun than the need. Other than that, just had to re-boot when NT went South. Nothing else to do.

Most of the problems of "babysitting" are actually caused by morons with no clue whatsoever on how to setup a system or a database for minimal maintenance. Particularly when doing so requires a little bit more knowledge about IT than the one needed to use a "multimedia rich interface"...
