Well,

I wrote a perl script to toggle each tablespace into hot backup mode, then I copied the file(s) for that tablespace to a staging area. When each tablespace was donem, and put back into normalmode, I gzippedall the copies into a tarball and ran NTbackup put the resulting huge file on a tape.
