It is my understanding that there is no reason to install OPS on one box. The intention of OPS is to provide additional throughput when one instance can no longer support additional connections or transactions. Adding an additional instance on the same processor & memory would only incur more overhead and reduce the total transactions per minute. You can run two instances against two different databases on the same box, and you can run two instances against one database where the instances are on different boxes (Parallel Server) but you may not run two instances against the same database on the same box. The Operation System Dependent layer from the hardware vendor allows to processor boxes or boards to share the same disk storage. This is how parallel server gets two instances in separate memory spaces with different processors to access the same database files.
