I would have thought that if you've installed it, then you've already used the GUI, as it only really supports a GUI install?

I belieive it is supposed to support a non-GUI install using a control file, but I've never seen it work.

Anyway, it uses X windows, so if you've got that up and running, then you should be able to use the X programs such as "dbassist".
