I know nothing about Sun Solaris. I've read that if your operating system limits the number of processes that can be spawned, this may force you to use MTS.

If you have enough RAM to support 1,100 server processes in addition the other processes running on the CPU, more power to you. Just remember that those processes are sitting idle, taking up machine resources waiting for individual users to execute SQL statements. If your running a Forms front end, you're only getting a few transactions per minute in the best of data entry environments.
