But Nuno, 'strue!! Imagine my surprise when I finally loaded up by very own, personal, Gigabyte of RAM to discover that the very act of booting Windows 2000, with nary an application in sight, that my paging file is 3% used! (And that's 3% of a 1Gb paging file, so by my (appalling modern) Maths, that's around 30Mb before *anything* runs.

(Incidentally, there's a registry hack to keep the Kernel in RAM -and that 3% was measured *after* hacking away).

I think I've finally worked out why Steve Adams' best advice for performance tuning on NT/W2K is "move to Unix".
