Rule No1 of the DBA:

Never, never tell them you made a change to improve performance!

Guaranteed they'll all immediately hit the heaviest screen they can find at the same time and therefore negate any improvements you may have made. And you'll get blamed for it.

Don't tell them. Change, measure, reason, change again. But, do *NOT* tell them!
