Well, one of mine is 8.1.6 with 36gb - and it is sized like this:

db_block_buffers: 12200 (95mb)
shared_pool_size: 175000000

Total (roughly) SGA: 270mb

I have 4gb machine (with 5 other databases, but this is the largest production LIVE database).

See what I mean? I could go mad and throw another couple of hundred meg into the fire, but the performance isn't going to be much greater. (Yes, I am aware that a lot of the memory might appear wasted in this case... but there are considerations I don't want to get too into here..)
