I read everything you write Jonathan, ......., and Howard and Sybrand et al. I would/will buy your book if/when I could find it in Edinburgh. ;-) A few points.
I think the potential reader's are the silent type. There would be a large amount of hits to a 'co-operative' FAQ. The most difficult aspect of such a system is structure. Chronological in date order of questions is useless and wouldn't help anybody.

How would the FAQ be structured? Judging from some of the questions I see asked in this forum some folks may have difficulty finding answers within a logically designed layout. e.g. Memory -> SGA -> Shared, local , UNIX -> Processes, Space -> Tablespaces -> Datafiles ->OS, a lot of them may not know where in the structure to look for their answers. I think if we (meaning you) started a (small) debate on how to structure a 'co-operative FAQ' and see what happens.
