Here are the steps:

(as root)

1. Install all compat*.rpm packages from CD 1 and 2

(as oracle)

2. export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5 
3. /usr/i386-glibc21-linux/bin/i386-glibc21-linux-env.sh
4. ./runInstaller

In my case the installer failed when relinking the executables. So I installed the patch (glibc-2.1.3-stubs.tar.gz) from the Oracle website (technet.oracle.com), restarted the installer and everything worked fine.
