I absolutely agree. And I believe (but don't quote me) that in 9i, the create database syntax *does* now create additional tablespaces. Last I heard, it creates a temporary tablespace, which becomes the temporary tablespace by default of all new users; and it creates a rollback tablespace, in which it creates (and subsequently manages) all rollback segment requirements, automatically.
Still no tablespace for the users, though.
And I may have got all this wrong... there must be some beta testers out there who can confirm or deny the above rumours!
