Re: does anyone has installation guides for oracle 8.1.7 for redhat 7.1?

Hi,

I did set the DISPLAY, along with other variables in the official oracle installation guide. Somehow, the runInstaller invoke oracle's jre which just eat up a lot CPU cycles. I tried use exceed, vnc and local display, the results are the same. The gui just doesn't show up. The official installation guide just doesn't reflect the reality in Redhat 7.1. Maybe it only works with Redhat 6.2.

Here is my system and environment configuration:

P3 533MHz, 256MB DRAM, 80GB HDD, two NIC. Redhat 7.1, 1GB Swap space, kernel version 2.4.2, /u01, /u02, /u03, /u04 are soft links to /opt/oracle/u01, u02, u03 and u04 directory which are inside a 60GB ext2 partition.
