ORA-01990: error opening password file problem

Oracle executables in our development box crapped. So I reinstalled oracle. Now when I try to open up the database it gives up the following message - ORA-01990: error opening password file
'/Oracle/U01/app/oracle/product/8.1.5/dbs/orapw'
SVRMGR> startup
ORACLE instance started.

Total System Global Area                        320494992 bytes
Fixed Size                                          64912 bytes
Variable Size                                   114507776 bytes
Database Buffers                                204800000 bytes
Redo Buffers                                      1122304 bytes

ORA-01990: error opening password file
'/Oracle/U01/app/oracle/product/8.1.5/dbs/orapw'

Then I linked orapwd located in $ORACLE_HOME/dbs to orapw file and still it's giving the same message. Any help would be appreciated.
