Error:ORA-27101

I have installed Oracle 8i enterprise v 8.1.7 on a Windows 2000 advanced Server (SP1).
I am able to create databases and they work well (I can create tables in them). However, once I reboot they are no longer available. All the listeners (services) seem to start-up well. But I get the following error whenever I try to access the databases:
ERROR:
ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist
