Possibly. Provided you have not used any functionality present in 8.1.6 than did not exist in 8.0.5.

But I can not think of any rational reason for doing so. What do you expect to gain? Less functionality? Slower execution speed? No support from Oracle? A resume that demonstrates no knowledge of the current version?

What I think you should be asking is about upgrading to 8.1.7 now or waiting a few months for 9i.
