"INTERNAL" is the same as "SYS AS SYSDBA", Changing the password of SYS will also change the password for INTERNAL.

  1. Some installations never check the password for INTERNAL since the database has already verified that your UNIX group is correct.
  2. Avoid using "INTERNAL", it is scheduled to be removed IIRC.
  3. The initial password for INTERNAL is not the same as the initial password for SYS. The password for INTERNAL is only stored in the external passwordfile.
