Andre,

I have installed 817 on win2000. During the install, all services are started automatically. Once, you boot the system, the services are stopped your machine. What you need to do is ---> you need restart your services. To do this, go to -->control Panel--->administrative services--> Services. In this services, you will be seeing Oracle start serices. Start these serices. Once these services are started, your db should be working.
