alter session error

ugh! why is it so hard to install oracle? It never goes clean and I do the same options every time.

I deinstalled all oracle products
removed all oracle registry entries
rebooted
removed the oracle folder
reinstalled cleanly. no errors
rebooted

now when I enter sqlplus system/manager I get the following:

ERROR:
ORA-00604 error occured at recursive SQL level 1 ORA-02248 invalid option for ALTER SESSION

win2k pro sp1
oracle 8.1.6

I did notice this time the installed told me the system user and password (instead of ***) and then had a change_on_install phrase after it. Never noticed this before. Received on Tue Apr 10 2001 - 18:25:02 CDT
