As Terry said you can use dumps from one OS to Another.

This is not the problem however. A 8.0.x dump is not compatible when using IMP of 8.1.x.

Do this.

Create an export using the 8.1.6 version of EXP Import using the 8.1.6 version of IMP and you will be Okay.

Oracle has a matrix on the exp/imp version capatibility in Metalinks
