On October 3, 2000, Oracle offered a prize of $1 million to any existing commercial production Web sites based on IBM DB2, SQL Server, or BEA Weblogic Server that could not achieve three times better Web site performance by deploying an Oracle solution instead.

Microsoft has response to this offer:
