Except that Oracle doesn't offer a Solaris x86 version, or if they do they're not really throwing it down to us customers. And if you're going to pay for Solaris, why wouldn't you run it on the system with the higher IO? (sparcs, for those who just joined us.)

You may have had some good experiences with Solaris x86, but after mine I can't honestly say that it's a good choice. It combines all the troublesomeness of Solaris with the low-end designs of PC hardware, and is less well supported than either. Received on Wed Apr 04 2001 - 02:22:23 CDT
