Oracle8/NT and disk config for Compaq server??

Can anyone offer recommendations, or perhaps direct me to a resource that will explain optimal hardware/disk configuration for Oracle8?

We are staging a Compaq Proliant ML570 server with a dual-channel Ultra3 array controller, and 6@ 18Gb Ultra3 15KRPM SCSI drives connected to each channel.

I seem to recall that Oracle had some strong recommendations about disk configuration for optimal performance, but the guidelines I saw a few years back did not seem to take into account the performance implications of using a RAID5 array rather than regular drives.

From what I can recall of those guidelines, it was highly recommended to isolate the Oracle database files on a separate disk and/or controller where possible.

Have these guidelines been updated or modified?

Anyone have any recommendations specific to this combination of hardware??

Thanks,
