Here's a site that explains the basics/concepts of RAID quite well. Remember, it's a hardware RAID solution you're after, not software. I believe RAID 0+1 or RAID5 are the most common/desired in production Oracle environment, but I'd be interested to hear others thoughts on this if I'm wrong...?
