Oracle 8.0.5 on RedHat 6.2

Does anyone have any pointers on installing 8.0.5 on 6.2?

I installed all of the compat RPMS as recommended.

Should the glibcpatch.sh script be run before any attempt at installation from the staging
location?

If I try to install w/ db objects before the patch then it fails at certain points because the
binaries (sqlplus, svrmgrl) are not compatible. I can patch at that point and continue, but
it eventually fails with a bad username/password when trying to run some scripts.

If I install without creating db objects I can get farther but have no clue on how to create a database. All of the downloadable docs only refer to the graphical DB mgr tool which doesn't appear to exist in the Linux distribution. If I rerun the install to create a database it goes to the Oracle SW install/remove selection screen but doesn't actually try to create a db. Received on Tue Feb 27 2001 - 16:13:47 CST
