It seems that everyone is in agreement that a two-disk offering has nothing to offer. All the arguments used for separate data and redo and the rest works very well on an abundance of spindles, but is almost usless to discuss with only two disks. The truth is that the best you can do with only two disks is to hope they are different controllers at least and then stripe logical volumes across them. There is no performance tuning to be done with two spindles and definitely no redundancy whatever. Try to offset what is going to be painfully slow with more memory and CPU now until you can get a few, (7-9) more disks. All of the good advise from the other posters relating to separate spindles will then be golden.

Miki
