Re: Organizing alert_log

the alert.log file is renamed, and then copied and backed up as one of the last steps of the hot backup procedure. we also leave a copy of the renamed alert.log file in the bdump directory.

i think it's a good idea to keep a backup copy of the log file with the backup datafiles.
