Sorry, sorry, sorry.

In a moment of madness, I forgot to realise that my internal ethernet alias is exactly the same as the hostname of the node. That's why, when I put the ethernet address (hostname) in the listener.ora file, I was actually accepting connections via any interface - proved simply by putting the ethernet IP address in instead!

Woops!
