Running Oracle 8.1.6 on Solaris 2.7



What are the consequences of issuing this command?
We had a database where there were too many datafiles created,
and this command was issued.  However, the status of the datafiles
dropped now says "recover".


If we shut down this Instance, will it even come back up  - I'm not sure
what the status should say now that


it's been dropped?
