Oracle Internet Directory

Is anyone using Oracle Internet directory? If so what was your impression of the product? Are there any gotchas with its administration? Also, does anyone know how to install the dbms_ldap portion of the product? I can't seem to install it unless I use the system tablespace that is supplied with the Oracle binaries. I apologise if this is overly vague but until last week, I couldn't have told you the difference between LDAP and OLAP : ). I am using Oracle 8.1.7 on both Redhat linux 6.2 and Solaris 8.
