No, Gary -clearly the problem is with Oracle. The fact that a million and one people besides yourself manage to install and run Oracle perfectly well on NT is a pure abberation.

Obviously, your own configuration (details of which are sadly lacking) has no bearing on the fact that a shrink-wrapped package is quite clearly in error.

Some in support circles could wish for knowledge as to which version of NT you are using, which service pack, what hardware configuration, and what other software is installed, and perhaps what precise error messages you encounter.... but this is obviously a load of old bunkum, because it's obviously Oracle's fault for writing dodgy software that no-one else in the world can get running properly, either.

Having paid thousands of dollars for your product and its support contract (you *did* pay stacks of money and buy a support contract, didn't you??), Oracle support is clearly utterly delinquent in not being able to diagnose your precise problems from the wealth of information you provided.

As far as I see it, you have two choices: stay within your comfort zone and stick with SQL Server or whatever other product you are currently using. Or you can perhaps agree to provide the bare minimum of information on which a reasonably informed comment on your particular problem could be based.

HJR
