We did one upgrade to v8.1.7 and spent the next day downgrading it back to v8.1.6. There is a very nasty bug in v8.1.7 that will not allow you to perform certain queries across a database link. If you use any kind of NOT IN or NOT EXISTS clause in your query you are out of luck. Oracles response is - yeah it's a bug. Do they test their software?
