    That's just standard anti-Microsoft bigotry. Windows 2000 has been extremely solid since it was released.

    Something is definitely wrong with 8.1.7 on Windows. I've had horrible problems with it on both NT 4 SP6a and W2K SP1, both of which Oracle lists as supporting.

    I had to back out to 8.1.6, which has far fewer problems (indicative that the problem is with Oracle, not Windows).
