Re: Oracle 8i startup in Windows2000?

I can only speak for 8.1.6: My service continually says "starting", yet if I go into sqlplus, connect, and select * from scott.emp, voila! The database is actually open, despite what the service staus might lead you to suggest.

I've given up caring about the stupid service status as a result.
