Hi Scott,
I don't know what version you're using..on 8.1.6 it's no problem..I'll include an example here:
SQL> CREATE TABLE ATSIGN(COL VARCHAR2(3)); Table created.
SQL> INSERT INTO ATSIGN
2 VALUES('@');
1 row created.
SQL> select * from atsign;
COL
