Oracle has "improved" 8i to use a graphical installer only. Your only choices are to install Oracle on a machine the does have a graphical monitor and tar/untar the linked executable onto your intended machine or install an x-emulator on your PC. I use vnc when I need graphics on remote machines. Its not the best product for this purpose but its free. Here is a link for the aix patch of the product:
