Kelly-Anne,

It is best to have a small disk for your offline ARCHIVE logs(assuming you're running in log mode). Datafile are on RAID.

Now, if your RAID crashes(don't say this never happens !), you are able to do a complete recovery by:
1. Restoring datafiles from tape or whatever to RAID 2. Applying archive logs from tape and the most recent ones from the NON-RAID disk

If the archive disk crashes, no problem, but do make a backup of the datafiles immediately, because your
recent work is not in the archive logs.

Concerning your ONLINE redo logs, it is also wise to duplicate them on a small disk.
