Oracle 8.1.5 for Solaris 7, use UFS.

Before try to enable direct I/O, Oracle runs well.

'uname -a' returns:
SunOS nfdev02 5.7 Generic_106541-12 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-5_10

RAM is 512M, assign 120 MB to SGA

Enable Direct I/O support in solaris 7 by adding 'forcedirectio' entry to the last column of corresponding rows in /etc/vfstab file.

Then reboot box without any problems, but when start oracle database, machine crashed! When remove the 'forcedirectio' from /etc/vfstab and keep other config unchanged, oracle database runs well again.

Could anyone who is able to enable direct I/O successfully give me some suggestions?

Thanks a lot!!
