Why? Redo log groups were introduced in earlier versions of ORACLE to cater for hardware that didn't have mirroring facilities. They are simply a performance nuisance for anyone running on hardware that has in-built fail-safe facilities. Like EMC's, Sharks, etc,etc.

Why are we mirroring TWICE? To be sure, to be sure?
