Oracle 8.1.6 on Redhat question

I found out the hard way 8.1.6 doesn't work on Redhat 7.0. After trying the workarounds to no avail, I took the last resort and downgraded to Redhat 6.2 (don't worry, it was on my secondary machine :) ).

Now, the problem is XFree 3.3.x doesn't work on that machine (a thinkpad). I've gotten it to work before but it's a pain. I'd rather upgrade it back to Redhat 7.0 and have everything working beautifully like before. The question is: if I do a "upgrade" (as oppose to re-install) now to 7.0, is my Oracle still going to work? Must I have the older glibc, gcc etc only at install time? Or do I need them at runtime?

TIA,
