Depends on your platform of course.
In NT :start the OracleStart<SID> service.
Diagnostic messages are written in the alert and in oradim<xx>.log (prior to
8i, in 8i it's oradim.log)
In Unix, use the dbstart script or directly use svrmgrl
issue connect internal followed by startup.
If it doesn't work using Unix, one of the general causes is your files are
having incorrect protection.
