This is a basic software engineering question:

Multi OS development has some common problems but can be managed by having good configuration management and install scripts and do not use OS specific stuff in your product.

Then TEST your product including the install on ALL the target OSs.

I have seen many installs stop when the product was developed on NT by not finding C:\ and the OS is Unix.
