Ok Howard is right, Here is the whole story. The online backup was done using backupexec oracle client which backed up the datafile the archived redo logs and the control file. The guy who did the backup took the oracle backup as well as backing up the entire server including the archive logs again. Since this was such a large backup it spanned two tapes. So when i went to restore the logs i used the ones from the whole server backup and not the oracle client ones which didnt appear since they where on the other tape. So this explains the missing last log since backupexec rights this last log out after backing up the database and then backs up this last log. Yeah i know it sounds funny but howard was right there are two steps backup and restore. Thanks for all the help.
