Hey All,

   I was wondering if you could help me. I've set up a local test installation of Oracle 8i Personal edition on NT Workstation. When I ran Net8 Easy config and set up an entry for myself. I also Net8 configuration assistant and specified a listener for the spare03 database.

   I keep getting from SQL Plus
ERROR:ORA-12541
TNS:no listener

   When I try to connect. Yet my listener.ora file looks like this: # D:\ORANT\NETWORK\ADMIN\LISTENER.ORA Configuration File:D:\orant\network\admin\listener.ora # Generated by Oracle Net8 Assistant

LISTENER =
  (DESCRIPTION_LIST =
    (DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =

        (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC0))
      )

(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 128.32.000.00{not my real ip, sorry, but is correct in the real thing})(PORT = 1521)) )

    )
  )

SID_LIST_LISTENER =
  (SID_LIST =
    (SID_DESC =
(SID_NAME = PLSExtProc)
(ORACLE_HOME = D:\orant)
(PROGRAM = extproc)

    )
  )

Am trying to connect as client to same machine that is server. Can this have any impact. Please help.

Regards,
Bryan
