Just a little background. I am using HP Chemstore which uses Oracle 7 backend for a database. Do to a bad install of chemstore the db server needs to be rebuilt. I have taken an online backup of the database using backupexec with oracle agent. This has backed up the datafiles, the archived logs and caused oracle to produce a proper controlfile which was backed up. Now i have rebuilt nt server reinstalled oracle which comes up with a default database. Now to recover i replaced the datafiles, the archived log files and controlfiles with the backup version. There are no online redo logs to restore so i start the recover database until cancel using backup controlfile. it asks for the archive logs and goes along ok until it gets to a log that i don't have which i believe is in the online redo logs so i hit cancel and try to open the database with resetlogs at which time it complains that my syshpcs.ora datafile needs further recovery. When i try to recover it it asks for the log i dont have and now i am stuck. I thought resetlogs was a stop here open it up i don't care what i break type of thing? ANY help would be appreciated THANKs
